  • “Health Fair Day” at Adopt-A-School,” Garr Academy of Mathematics and Entrepreneurial Studies (G.A.M.E.S.). Lady Sharon Johnson, our Nutrition and Wellness Chairperson, gave a presentation on nutrition and healthy habits to all of the students in K-5 classes.

 

February 3, 2010

  • Teachers at G.A.M.E.S. and Crenshaw High School were awards roundtrip airline tickets on Southwest Airlines for their commitment and dedication to their students. The Legacy Ladies’ program, “Beyond the Bell” recognizes teachers who take a holistic approach to educating their students.

 

February 24, 2010

  • The organization partnered with “Angels for Sight” to provide over 200 free eye exams to elementary students at Garr Academy of Mathematics and Entrepreneurial studies. As a result, 80 students will receive free eyeglasses to correct their visual deficiencies.

 

March 25, 2010

  • The Torch Awards honored The Walt Disney Company, Robert Billingslea, Dr. Gwendolyn Lee, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Bill Shack.

 

September 26, 2010

  • Kick-off and orientation of leadership program, “From the School House to the White House.

 

October 26, 2010

  • Monthly leadership program begins at Crenshaw High School for young girls at Crenshaw High School and Washington preparatory School.

 

November 14, 2010

  • The organization thanks the community for their support by offering an empowerment program, “Afternoon Expressions,” kicked-off the 2001 Torch Awards at The Ebell Club in Los Angeles with an empowering program featuring guest speaker, Linda Clemmons, and panelist Phoebe Beasley, Shirley Kinsey, and Tanya Hart.
